WHEN Series Fully Opens WEB API — Officially Integrates with OpenClaw!

2026-03-27

The WHEN series clocks have always aimed to provide high-precision, minimal, and pure timekeeping experiences. As a product for tinkerers and power users, we understand the desire for more control and hackability.

From Built-in Web UI to Full API: Return Secondary Development Power to You

If you are familiar with WHEN clocks, you know we keep control local — all settings were configured through the device’s built-in web pages without relying on external cloud services.

Now, with the WEB API fully opened, we hand more control back to you. You are no longer limited to the default web UI; you can perform deep secondary development via simple HTTP requests. Whether integrating the clock into your system, writing automation scripts, or embedding it into a broader smart home ecosystem, it’s now easy to achieve and enjoy true tinkering freedom.

Integrating with LLMs: when-clock-skill Released as Open Source

To demonstrate the power of the open API, we created an adapter Skill library based on the open-source framework OpenClaw. With this Skill, you can use natural language (text or voice) to let an AI agent act as your “butler” and accurately call the clock’s functions.

Key Capabilities

The Skill lets you control WHEN clocks using natural language. Core features include:
  • 🎙️ Voice announcements (clock & weather): With the WHEN Voice clock, AI can trigger time or weather voice announcements.
  • ⏰ Alarm queries: Ask how many alarms are set — the AI returns times, repeat rules, and volume status.
  • 🎵 One-sentence complex alarm creation: For example: "Set an alarm for 7:30 PM, pick a cheerful tone, volume 28." The AI maps parameters and pushes the setting to the clock.
  • ⏱️ Quick timers on demand: Say "Remind me in 5 minutes" and the AI issues the command; the clock will notify precisely.

Resources & Project Links

We have published the Skill repository as open source. If you run a local LLM or agent service, you can connect with minimal configuration:

· GitHub Skill repo: https://github.com/master-gong/when-clock-skill
· Hardware:
    WHEN Voice (supports voice)
    WHEN (classic high-precision clock)

OpenClaw Skill Installation

If you already have OpenClaw installed, add the WHEN skill with a single command:

clawhub install when-clock-skill

Final Notes

Opening the WEB API is only the first step. We hope this brings purer and freer tinkering fun.

Whether you connect to OpenClaw or build your own integrations, WHEN clocks are ready to be the most reliable physical output node in your LAN.
